Our bodies are designed to breathe through the nose and is important for optimal health. Nasal breathing filters, moistens and warms the air. It produces nitric oxide in the sinuses to protect against airborne viruses and increases blood oxygen levels. Your lungs will utilize oxygen inhaled through the nasal passages more effectively. An open mouth posture restricts palate growth causing orthodontic and airway issues. Structural and functional issues may need an evaluation and CBCT scan by a specialist before nasal breathing can be established.
